Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

Other Information

USNS VEGA earned the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon (4 awards) and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Vega, also designated Alpha Lyrae is the brightest star in the constellation of Lyra, the fifth-brightest star in the night sky, and the second-brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere, after Arcturus.

Four ships of the US Navy have borne the name VEGA - USS Vega SP-734, USS Vega AK-17, USS Vega AF-59 and USNS Vega T-AK-286.
