Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). USS McNULTY earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Lieutenant (jg.) John Thomas McNulty, USN (23 April 1897 - 9 August 1942)
McNulty enlisted in the Navy on 14 August 1917 for World War I service, until discharged 7 August 1919. He reenlisted 15 July 1920 for the period to 10 July 1924, and after his third enlistment, 29 July 1924, served continuously until his death while serving in USS Astoria CA-34 during the Battle of Savo Island August 9 1942. Commissioned Ensign 3 November 1941, he was promoted to Lieutenant (jg.) 15 June 1942.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Helen K. McNulty.
