This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Other Information
NAMESAKE - Rear Admiral George Beale Balch, USN (3 January 1821 – 18 April 1908)
Balch served in the US Navy from 1837 to 1883 and participated in the Mexican–American War and the American Civil War. Balch was Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD 1879-1881.
Two ships of the US Navy have been named in his honor - USS Balch DD-50 and USS Balch DD-363
The ships sponsor was Miss Grace Balch, daughter of Admiral Balch.
