Letter from the Curator

January 4, 2004

There's been a flurry of activity at the Museum in the last two months. Four batches of covers were uploaded representing 231 covers. The amazing thing to me is that not a single one came from my own collection. All came from other contributors. I had always hoped that the Museum would be a collaborative effort and it is very gratifying to see this come true.

Unfortunately, things will slow way down this year. First, I will take the next six months off to work on a large scale project for the Universal Ship Cancellation Society. After that, I will finally find that "free" time to give the Museum its first overhaul. It will likely be late 2004 before you see any changes.

I already have some ideas for improvements:

  1. Display a thumbnail image next to each entry in the various lists
  2. Eliminate the pop-up MENU
  3. Have only one entry per cover rather than one per cancel
  4. Eliminate some of the less useful data collected per cover

As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions.
