Batch 11 took a long, long time. Certainly longer than expected. However, two key milestones were reached!
The first (and most important) milestone is the inclusion of an exhibit! My good friend, Steve Shay, was most kind in providing his award-winning exhibit: "A History of the Submarines Built at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard". He scanned the covers and provided the text and layout from each page. I cataloged each cover and converted everything to HTML format. It took a lot more effort than I originally thought but it is well worth it.
With this exhibit, the last section of the Museum is now completed and open for business. I look forward to adding more exhibits to further our education and enjoyment. I see no limit to the number of exhibits possible and they will be displayed for as long as the Museum exists. If you have an exhibit you would like to put on permanent display, please contact me.
The second key milestone is more personal. My wife and I picked up and moved to San Diego early in 2002. Selling a house and moving is a major upheaval and certainly caused considerable disruption in our routines. All has quieted down now and we are beginning to explore our new surroundings. San Diego is a major Navy town and I look forward to enjoying the sights and atmosphere.
As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions.
